Benefits of Car Scrappage Scheme
There are a number of benefits that have been possible through the scrappage scheme. Possibly the most significant benefit can be seen in the German motor industry economics, they have reportedly seen a 40 percent increase in car sales an extreme opposite to Britain where car sales have fallen by more than 30 percent comparatively to the same time in 2008.
The implications of these figures suggest that the government has developed a means of boosting the new car market while aiding consumers at the same time.
Many professionals including members of breakdown recovery company RAC, have reportedly expressed their support of the scheme highlighting the idea that if the average age of cars on the road has decreased as a result of the initiative, therefore road safety should have also improved proportionately as a result of the enhanced safety features of newer vehicles.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has also reportedly expressed global benefits of the scheme suggesting it is encouraging the replacement of heavily polluting cars in exchange for more efficient and less polluting new ones, however it is worth remembering that the scheme is open for buyers of any new car, not just small, efficient ones.
